Sunrise and sunset yoga
Begin each morning with an energizing practice as the sun rises over the jungle, and end each day with a grounding sunset practice overlooking the Pacific.
Santa Teresa · Costa Rica
Wake to the ocean. Greet the sunrise with yoga. Spend a week coming back to yourself.
The invitation
Imagine waking to the sound of the ocean, greeting the sunrise with yoga, nourishing your body with vibrant tropical meals, and spending a week reconnecting with yourself in one of Costa Rica's most beautiful beach communities.
Join a small, intimate group of ten women or fewer for a week of movement, adventure, deep rest, meaningful connection, and renewal.
Santa Teresa sits on the Pacific side of the Nicoya Peninsula, where the jungle runs almost to the sand. It is the kind of place where the day is organized around light rather than a clock, and where a week is long enough to actually feel the difference.
What's included
Structured enough that you never have to plan anything, open enough that you are never being marched around.
Begin each morning with an energizing practice as the sun rises over the jungle, and end each day with a grounding sunset practice overlooking the Pacific.
Breakfast and lunch each day at El Patio, steps from the house. Fresh tropical fruit, locally inspired cooking, smoothies, and food that leaves you energized rather than heavy.
A day here
No two days are identical, and excursion days shift things around. This is the rhythm most days follow.
Your home for the week
We stay together in a private home in Santa Teresa, designed for community while still leaving room to unwind on your own.
Shared spaces can make or break a retreat, so room assignments are matched thoughtfully rather than drawn from a hat. On the registration form you will be asked about:
The goal is simple. Everyone comfortable, everyone rested, everyone at home.
Is this retreat for you?
No advanced yoga experience is necessary. Just an open heart and a willingness to receive.
Participation is limited to ten women. Small groups allow for deeper connection, personalized attention, and a relaxed atmosphere. Once the spots are filled, a waitlist opens.
Your host
Kristine has practiced yoga for 26 years. She completed her 200-hour teacher training with CorePower Yoga in Point Loma, San Diego, in March 2008, began teaching privately in 2010, and started leading group classes in 2013. She went on to earn her 300-hour certificate from Asheville Yoga Center, making her a 500-hour instructor.
She teaches vinyasa, yin, and bhakti. She holds a Dao Flow Yoga certification from Nourishing Life, a women's acupuncture and yoga studio, and has spent years on bhakti retreats with Krishna Das. Bhakti sits at the center of her own practice, and she is happiest making it feel welcoming rather than rarefied.
For ten years she taught at Yoga and Massage (YAM), an infrared yoga, massage, and spa studio, where she led mini retreats and yoga and acupuncture tune-ups. She currently teaches Bhakti Slow Flow, Yin Yoga, and special collaborations with local businesses at Wild Lotus Yoga Collective in Flat Rock, North Carolina, and leads the Sanskrit and mantra module in the Freedom Journey.
Away from the mat she plays tabla and piano, cooks, gardens, hikes, and travels. She lives in Western North Carolina.
This is my first international week-long retreat, created with care for a small group seeking connection, support, inner exploration, and adventure. I am keeping the experience intentionally intimate, with a considered itinerary, trusted local partners, and plenty of room to rest and connect.
